Five Tips for Gearing Up for Success

Studies have shown that successful people have high scores when tested for optimism and that it is their optimistic attitude that paves the way for their success. Optimists have resilience and do not let rejection alter their course. They believe that they have the skills necessary to be successful.

Five tips for gearing up for success are:

1.) Write down your goals. Be specific about what you want to achieve.

2.) Set a time frame for completion. Put in your calendar the dates when tasks need to be completed.

3.) Chunk it down. Take your goal, chunk it into smaller tasks and monitor your progress.

4.) Look for barriers. If obstacles can get in your way, devise ways to overcome them.

5.) Imagine it successfully completed. Picture what it would look and feel like to have your goal completed and what it means to you.

Have a plan of action attached to your goals and follow up on how well the implementation of the plan is working. Ask someone you trust to be your accountability partner that will check in with your progress and keep you on track.

It is that old metaphor about the glass being half full and being curious about what you are currently paying attention to. A positive outlook helps you to stay motivated to achieve what you want in life and to view obstacles as opportunities. It is also about those self-fulfilling prophecies. How you expect things to play out will ultimately work for you or against you.

If you are feeling like you need a confidence boost, consider when you have succeeded at something like this before and start to switch your thinking from impossible to possible.
